A councillor has called for a "scruffy" area to be tidied up.
Phil Bateman said the streets surrounding a row of shops on the Ashmore Park estate in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, had been left to fall into a sad and sorry state.
Nearby residents are said to have sent a flurry of complaints to councillors, who have met with bosses from Wolverhampton Homes, which owns the buildings.
The company said it was working closely with the City of Wolverhampton Council to improve the area.
“We requested a meeting because we are perturbed with the sad and sorry state of this important public facility," Mr Bateman said.
"The shops, which have flats above, have been there for a long time but have had little work done on them over the years."
The councillor went on to call the shops a blot on the landscape and said the area was generally very scruffy.
He also moaned about a churned-up muddy mess left behind by drivers parking on a nearby grass bank and said money needed to be ploughed into the area.
The shops are located next to a bus terminus, and safety fears have been raised over the number of cars parking around the main stop and pulling out in front of coaches.
A spokesperson for Wolverhampton Homes said the company had met with councillors and would act to make the area nicer.
