The only thing hotter than the current heatwave sweeping New York City and the rest of the country was how I felt in my head-to-toe lululemon outfit.

Testing the lululemon Wunder Train collection meant that I could now look super confident walking into a gym, even if I had no idea what I was doing. That’s the power of great gym clothes: Not only do they need to stand up to the sweat-test of whatever activity you’re doing, but also give you a boost of confidence and motivation to train.

The start of any workout usually involves tugging on a tight sports bra and leggings — a daunting task in the summer heat. Luckily, the Wunder Train High-Rise Tight ($98) slid on like butter, making my normal pants-dance a thing of the past. I ordered a size 10 and the 28-inch length option. On my 5-foot-3 frame, they were a bit long, but the fit in the stomach was impeccable, staying up on my waist with no roll down but not uncomfortably tight. Next time, the 25-inch length is for me, and taller people can check out the 31-inch option.

For the matching Wunder Train Long-Line Bra *Medium Support, C/D Cups ($68) I did choose to size up to a size 12, as there isn’t a traditional bra size chart to go off of based on band size. The good news is that since the bra is made from the same deliciously soft and stretchy Everlux fabric as the leggings, it only took a few tugs to get on and the long-line fit kept me covered and feeling secure.

Since I personally am not the type to head out into the world in just a sports bra, I also opted to throw on the Power Pivot Tank Top ($58) in a size 12 for a looser fit and easier layering. The best part of the top for me was the ability to wear it “backward” as a low-cut V-neck, or forward for a high neck that looks great with the sports bra underneath. I also added a Fly Away Tamer Headband ($12) to keep my frizz at bay — and to rock a head-to-toe lululemon look — and headed out.

As a new New Yorker, I decided to let the city be my gym and headed out for an outdoor workout session, bringing my yoga mat and Bala weights with me. The walk to my local park was enough to test the leggings for sweat-wicking, as normally after a 30-minute walk, my thighs would be chafing and I’d be ready to turn back. Thanks to the Everlux fabric, no matter how sweaty I felt, my legs glided past each other on each step with no chafing to be found. Then, like a true Minnesotan who was overheated, I finished my workout in an air-conditioned gym on a humid, 95-degree day.

While I did order a black set of Wunder Train for a slimming effect — and to achieve the workout ninja look of my dreams, I did want to see how the light gray Power Pivot Tank Top stood up to unsightly underarm sweat. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of my sweat was either absorbed by the bra underneath or wicked away altogether.

After returning home, I finished the day with a stretch session in my beloved air conditioning. For this, I changed into the Wunder Train High-Rise Short 6″ ($58) which I got in the periwinkle Water Drop color in a size 10. Besides the length and pop of color, they are just a shorter version of the leggings made with the same fabric and stretch.

All in all, the Wunder Train collection made it so much easier for a novice like me to get in a good workout, so I can only imagine how much a regular gym-goer or trainer would appreciate the collection. The sweat-wicking quality is the all-star here, followed closely by the fit and support of the bra and waistbands of the bottoms. And of course, this wouldn’t be a 10-out-of-10 collection without the fashion aspect, encouraging sweaty-yet-sexy before and after mirror pictures all summer long.
