During his early childhood, Hornsby’s family moved to Houston, Texas, where he attended Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in 1998 with a major in acting. Prior to making it big in the entertainment industry, he took various jobs, including as a caterer, nanny, telemarketer and food expeditor on the Sunset strip.

Hornsby made his film debut in 2001, appearing in the epic romantic war film “Pearl Harbour”. The following year he had a minor role in the science fiction film “Minority Report”, and then in 2003 he appeared in the Spike reality television hoax “The Joe Schmo Show” as Steve “The Hutch” Hutchison. The same year he was cast in the HBO drama television series “Six Feet Under”, with the recurring role of Patrick. Another recurring role also came in 2003, playing Denny in the sitcom “The Mullets”. Hornsby started to become recognized in the world of acting, and so his net worth began to grow.

His resume continued to grow by landing recurring roles in series such as “Jake in Progress” and “Threshold”, both from 2005 to 2006. Then in 2006 he was cast in the FX television sitcom “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Since then, he has portrayed the priest Matthew ‘Rickety Cricket’ Mara, while also serving as the show’s executive producer and writer, which has enabled him to showcase his skill, bringing him yet more attention and considerably improving his wealth.

Meanwhile, in 2006 Hornsby appeared in the Clint Eastwood film “Flags of Our Fathers”, as the photographer Louis R. Lowery. He played the character of Drew in the 2007 science fiction action horror film “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem”, and Kenny in the 2008 comedy “Pretty Bird”. All added to his net worth.

In 2011 he created, wrote and was the executive producer for the television sitcom “How to be a Gentleman”, based on the same-titled book by John Bridges. In the show, he was also a member of the main cast, playing columnist Andrew Carlson. The series ran for one season until 2012, when CBS canceled it.

In the years since, Hornsby has appeared in several television series, including “Ben and Kate”, “Hello Ladies” and “Bones”. He created and was the executive producer of the pilot of the comedy series “Mission Control”, however, NBC canceled its airing before the premiere.

In addition, Hornsby has also done some voice-over work. In 2006 he provided his voice for the character of Brandon in the animated series “The X’s”, then from 2009 to 2014 he voiced Fanboy, a lead character from the animated series “Fanboy & Chum Chum”. In 2014 he created, wrote and was the executive producer of the animated series “Unsupervised”, in which he voiced the character of Joel Zymanski. He also provided his voice for Tyson in the animated series “Sanjay and Craig” from 2013 to 2015. All contributed to his net worth.

Hornsby’s most recent film involvement was in the upcoming road trip sex comedy “The Layover”, which he co-wrote with Lance Krall.
