Cody Simpson has revealed that he will quit swimming after the Paris Olympics.
The pop star and athlete, 26, recently shared a photo to Instagram of the medals he won at the Australian Short Course Championships and captioned it with some telling words.
‘My second and last ever Aussie short course champs. It’s been real,’ he wrote.
Now, with the Paris Olympics around the corner, the partner of Aussie superfish Emma McKeon has set tongues wagging again with another social media post.
Simpson posted a video of him training for the butterfly with a message to his fans, saying his career in the pool is drawing to an end.
‘I’ve been doing this every day for over 3 years now. There are only 8 months left in my swimming journey which I believe calls for more content & updates on the path,’ he posted.
‘Training is going well. I give whatever I have to give everyday. Learning a lot about myself. Loving feeling this healthy.’

Simpson has recently released a new album and has posted about missing being able to play live music and see his fans
The cryptic nature of the post led many of his followers to question whether that meant the Olympics – to be held next July, eight months from now – will be the finale for Simpson in the pool.
‘Wait are you quitting swimming after that?’ one fan asked.
‘You deserve to represent Australia in Paris and get a gold medal. I think the 100m fly is open,’ a fan from all the way over in Brazil posted.
‘I admire your attitude, strength & determination,’ added another.

While Simpson has repeatedly put his music career on hold to focus on the pool, he released a post recently suggesting that he’s looking to get back in the studio and on the road.
‘The very fact that I’m swimming professionally means my ability to travel and play live is inhibited, but I hope this’ll do,’ he posted along with an announcement that his self-titled studio album had been released.
‘I have a fair few live sessions to share with you digitally. This album is for all of you who’ve stuck by me and my musical journey.
‘From the early pop days to getting ‘Free’ to the Tide days to now! It’s yours now, let me know where you’re listening from. Oh and comment your favourite track.. keen to hear your thoughts.’
